OpisThe Model 180 Dual Attack Generator is composed of two ASR envelopes with linear voltage curves. The length of the sustain phases, here called note duration, are determined by either gate signals or potentiometers. The envelopes thus can also be used with an AD characteristic. Small time values lead to very punchy results. – Perfect for creating drum and percussion sounds. While attack or note duration phases are active, the modulators can’t be retriggered. Thanks to this, it is possible to use the Model 180 as an unconventional clock divider.
The Model 180’s envelopes feature an identical design. Trigger respectively gate inputs are used to activate the modulators. Attack and release parameters can be adjusted via potentiometers. The length of the sustain phases, here called note duration, are set via two other knobs or incoming gate signals. – Switches decide which mode is active. The Model 180 generates linear voltage curves, which results in a refreshingly different behavior. Furthermore, the envelopes are very fast with small time values dialed in. Combined with a Model 158 dual oscillator and the Model 110 Quad Gate, it is possible to create excellent FM drums. Trigger signals are ignored, as long as the attack or duration phases are active. The module emits control voltages via two outputs per envelope.
All modules of the Catalyst Audio 100 series were A/B tested with an original 100 series system. The analog circuits feature a discrete, transistor based design. Hand-picked components guarantee high performance, durability and excellent sound. Audio and CV levels have been adjusted to be compatible with the Eurorack standard. Op-amps were used for this task. The components can be removed from the signal flow via jumpers.
